Shame on You, 2021
Oil on canvas, 50x70cm
Several human-like characters are gathered, huddled together and obscuring their faces with their hands. Their naked, sensual nature, along with the obscuration of their faces, attests to a reluctance to scrutiny.
The eyes in their hands draw parallels to “Fatima’s Eyes” – a biblical protection from evil – with the aim of evoking feelings of shame in the viewer, for indulging in this act of voyeurism.
